The Secure Remote Desktop (SRD) service provides a secure virtual machine from which researchers can remotely access highly sensitive data. This service is primarily meant for research, public health, or healthcare operation purposes, and can be utilized by individual researchers, but environments for research groups can also be created.

Galaxy At UIowa

From Galaxy’s website “Galaxy is an open, web-based platform for data intensive biomedical research. Whether on the free public server or your own instance, you can perform, reproduce, and share complete analyses”. University of Iowa through ITS-Research Services and IIHG offers a local instance of Galaxy that being supported by our Neon cluster in the backend.

BioShare At UIowa

UI BioShare is a service provided to faculty, investigators, and study teams participating in research that involves human derived biomaterials such as tissue and blood specimens. The UI BioSHARE Service assists investigators and study teams alike as they navigate and utilize the soon to be implemented single software system (Labmatrix) employed to catalog biomaterials collected for research throughout the University of Iowa medical campus.

Bioinformatics Users Group (BUG)

The Bioinformatics Users Group, facilitated by the Iowa Institute of Human Genetics meets regularly and hosts two main events that help researchers in the area of bioinformatics in general.
